OUR MISSION
Our mission at the SASHA Center is to increase awareness, provide resources and educate the public about sexual assault, provide culturally specific peer support groups to self identified experiencers of rape and to increase justice and visibility for survivors in Southeast Michigan.
ANNUAL REPORT
Over the past fiscal year, SASHA Center proudly delivered vital support services, including sexual assault support groups, prevention education, and culturally specific programming, to uplift and empower experiencers of sexual assault in the African American community.

OUR FOUNDER
Kalimah Johnson LMSW, ACSW, LCSW, is the Founder/CEO and Executive Director of SASHA Center in Detroit, Michigan. Prior to creating this organization, she was a sexual assault and domestic violence Social Worker for the Detroit Police Department, being one of the first civilians to integrate into this role working alongside police officers to advocate for people who experienced interpersonal traumatic/violent crimes. She was also a full-time tenure-track professor at Marygrove College teaching interpersonal and community Social Work. Currently, she is a consultant and content expert to the National Basketball Association on matters of relationship safety and management.
Kalimah Johnson is a highly esteemed expert therapist who has made a significant impact in the field of mental health and relationship counseling. As a featured expert on the acclaimed OWN Channel series, Love and Marriage: Detroit, Kalimah provided profound insights and transformative guidance to individuals, families and couples navigating the complexities of love and relationships. Her expertise and compassionate approach have earned her recognition and respect within the industry, solidifying her reputation as a leading voice in therapeutic excellence.
She has been an advocate and counselor to survivors of sexual assault and intimate partner violence for 24 years and is an industry expert on topics related to culturally specific programming for sexual assault survivors. She is the creator of the Black Women’s Triangulation of Rape Model which explains the systemic barriers that Black women face when attempting to get help and services after a sexual assault. Her model has been translated in several different languages, used by organizations to apply for funding and it is a permanent teaching tool for the Michigan Coalition to End Domestic and Sexual Violence, Michigan State University’s MiVan trainings and for the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards. As a national trainer for the organization A CALL TO MEN, other topics that Ms. Johnson has trained on include race and gender equity, domestic violence, healthy relationships, emotional intelligence, mental health and interpersonal well-being.
She completed the Athlete Development Professional Certification Program at the University of Pennsylvania-The Wharton School/Aresty Institute of Executive Education to increase her skills and capacity of working with and on behalf of professional athletes and continues to create culturally specific services/training and workshops for DV and SA programs nationally and abroad.
Her interests include writing and performing poetry and she owns a natural hair care studio in her home-town Detroit. She is also currently earning a PhD in English Literature with a focus on Cultural and Media Studies at Wayne State University.

Kalimah Johnson
Executive Director, Founder and CEO
Kalimah Johnson, LMSW, is the Founder/CEO of SASHA Center in Detroit and a leading expert in sexual assault advocacy. She was among the first civilian social workers in the Detroit Police Department and a former professor at Marygrove College. She consults for the NBA on relationship safety and is a featured expert on Love and Marriage: Detroit (OWN).
With 24 years of experience, Kalimah developed the Black Women’s Triangulation of Rape Model, addressing systemic barriers for Black experiencers. A national trainer for A CALL TO MEN, she specializes in race and gender equity, domestic violence, and mental health.
A certified Athlete Development Professional (UPenn Wharton), she continues to create culturally specific training for DV and SA programs. Kalimah is also a poet, entrepreneur, and PhD candidate in English Literature at Wayne State University.

Larmender Davis
Director of Programs
Larmender Amia Davis, MSW, LMSW, PhD(c), is a seasoned social worker, advocate, and community leader with over 30 years of experience in non-profit management and direct service to marginalized communities. As the inaugural Director of the Office of Sexual Violence Prevention and Education at Wayne State University, she leads initiatives to support survivors and drive systemic change.
She is also the Principal of Soul Fire, LLC, a consulting firm specializing in organizational development and capacity building, guiding over 50 organizations in securing funding and strengthening leadership. As a PhD candidate in Organizational Psychology, Larmender blends research and practice to foster stronger, more equitable communities.

Antoinette Weaver
Community Engagement Liaison
Antoinette Weaver (Peaches), hails from the great City of Detroit, MI, and more specifically,
she’s from the Eastside! She attended Bates Academy, Cass Tech, and graduated with a BS in
Marketing and Public Relations from Wayne State University.
She has always had a passion for helping people. And one day, her past traumas led her to the
doorstep of the SASHA Center, when she herself was in need of help. The connection was life
altering. She not only received the help, but she gained a new family, and her purpose in life
became clearer. She became determined to be to others, who she needed when she was
silently struggling.
Today she is leading with love as the Community Engagement Liaison and one of the Lead
Facilitators for Sasha Center. Talk about a full circle!
She is living proof that your pain can forge your purpose, and that healing is most definitely

Hank Millbourne
Program Management Consultant
Henry (Hank) Millbourne is a licensed master social worker, certified in both micro and macro practice with over 45 years’ experience as a social work professional. He has a broad range of experience including non-profit management, program development and implementation, grant writing, community engagement and mobilization, mental health services for adults and children, HIV care and prevention services, LGBT+ advocacy and is a skilled trainer and workshop facilitator.
His work and interests continue to be centered and grounded in issues of social justice, health equity and the intersectionality of race, class, gender, ability and ethnicity.

Angela Jackson
Office Manager and Administrator
Angela Jackson, Administrative Manager for SASHA Center, is passionate about helping others and bringing a positive light to every space she enters.
With a Bachelor’s degree from Hamline University and a background in African-American Studies, she utilizes her skills to uplift and center the experiences of her community, particularly Black women.
At SASHA Center, Angela maintains a high level of organization and efficiently executes tasks and projects. Her energetic personality and proactive approach ensure that the team operates with excellence, always striving to make a meaningful impact.
